The Upper School history faculty at Mount Madonna School is planning a learning journey to historic Boston, Massachusetts this May. During this trip to Boston, students will have the opportunity to survey the major events and ideas that led to the American War for Independence and visit historical sites associated with the early American republic. This excursion will showcase the importance of Boston as a city that experienced slavery, revolution, and independence from colonial rule, and how this impacted the people of early America. Furthermore, this trip will deepen student understanding of the foundational arguments for freedom and democracy, a core theme in this year’s course of study in 8th grade. Our travel experiences in Boston contribute to our mission at Mount Madonna, to foster creative, intellectual and ethical growth in all students.
